Anybody else still rocking a 1st gen Moto X? I got the Lollipop update last night, which was surprising (verizon).
Might get this phone through an extra year of service if I don’t break or lose it.

Same. It was a bit of a hassle, had to restart multiple times because I was in a weird “update this so things will work/need to log in to update/can’t log in without update” loop.

Yeah I am experiencing some of that now. Currently “optimizing app 76 of 99” whatever that means.
End result should be worth it, I hope.

I am.
No Lollipop for me though. I’m with Republic Wireless and they’ve been giving us the run around regarding Lollipop for months. It’s always a few weeks away...
Still love the phone though.

me too, I have to say it has held up better than most other phones I’ve owned. I had a droid razr before this, and after 24 months it barely held a charge and was laggy as all hell.
Lollipop is like a new lease on life here.

I preordered a Moto X Pure, which should be getting here next week sometime, so it’s good to hear that folks are still able to use their 1st gen Moto Xs. My current phone is a Nexus 4 that I bought in October 2012, and it’s almost dead. Hopefully the Moto X Pure can last at least that long.

yeah based on this guy alone, I’ll definitely get another X. The hardware (at launch) is solid and everything you really need, but definitely not the premium end of the spectrum.
But the nearly untouched Android, and tasteful selection of apps that Motorola bundles that are pretty great. I don’t need the entire OS to be skinned to within an inch of its life.

My parents had the same experience with both Droids they owned.
Before this I had an LG Optimus Slider that lasted me about a year before it was all glitchy and slow. Tried a whole bunch of things to fix it, but nothing helped.
I’ve had my Moto X for 19 months now and it’s still going strong. Did a factory reset about a month ago because it was slowing down and battery life was shortening. Good as new.
Can’t wait for Lollipop.
